With thanks to Taylor, within 15 minutes of posting My Neighbor’s Holiday Lights, Jason DeRusha emails me saying he’s going to do a story on it. In under 2 hours he is outside my house.

He joked with my neighbor that it wasn’t the first time he stole one of my stories (true) and he said he has absolutely no problem stealing other people’s stories (also true). The last time I saw him was when he got my great spot along the red carpet at the A Prairie Home Companion premiere which allowed him to flirt with Virginia Madsen. Ruthless.

Anyway, here’s Jason’s post about my neighbor’s holiday lights and here’s the video of the story.

The worst part is that WCCO broadcasted a map to my house. We get enough traffic already and that’s not even including the girl and her stuffed animal dancing in the lights the other night.

Not long ago I saw my neighbor Troy and a roommate of his setting up holiday decorations. I yelled across the street, “you guys aren’t f***ing around this year, are ya?”

I had no idea what I was in for. The next few days the lights were in a horribly annoying pattern going directly into my bedroom window. I never understood why people would put lights in such rapidly flashing patterns. This weekend a car was parked outside my house blocking traffic and I pulled up to them and asked how they were as it seemed suspicious. They were clearly enjoying themselves and they told me to tune to 97.9 FM.

LOL so the neighbors have it all set to music!

A few days later they put a sign in the yard with the station and now we are getting a ton of traffic. Even my cat Minnie likes watching it. They add new songs now and then. Visit it at 32nd St E and 41st Ave S in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis or if you can’t make it out, the YouTube Video can give you a rough idea.
