Minneapolis General Election

Voted R.T. Rybak for mayor, Kevin McDonald for City Council, Carol Becker and Jill Schwimmer for the Board of Estimate & Taxation, Mary Merrill Anderson, Tom Nordyke, Scott Vreeland and Annie Young for Park and Recreation Board, and finally Alan Hooker, Rod Krueger, Sheldon Mains, Laurie Savran, Gary Thaden and Laura Waterman Wittstock for Library Board.

According to the machine that ate my ballot, I was #100 this morning.

Also met a woman that had the same last name as me. She lives a few blocks away. We figured out that we are probably related, but didn’t get far enough to figure out exactly how.

After Sunset in Saint Paul, MN

I don’t like leaving work after sunset. Beautiful drive home, though.

eResultsInc.com Sucks!

This dork from e-Results Inc, aka eResultsInc.com, called me today to promise me that he could put Go East as the first Google result for the word “design.” Yeah right! I asked how eResultsInc thought they could pull that off and he directed me to eresults.inc.com/special (now taken down) to show me some canned results. If you look closely at the “Software Site” example, eResultsInc shows realistic results on only one single obscure keyword combination on Google. Wow, nice work there. When I got to ask more questions I got put into his boss who told me about their numerous computers that are “only for the search engines” that “change the keywords every 24 hours” to optimize my site. LOL. I asked him what happens when Google figures out how eResultsInc is manipulating them and figures out what servers e-Results, Inc. uses. I asked them what happens when Google decides to not consider eResultsInc in their rankings and he got really defensive. They do everything to the “specs of the search engines” he said. Morons.

What I should have asked is “Why isn’t eResultsInc.com in the top 20 links when you search Google for ’search engine optimization’?” That would have owned them. Secondly, why is it that their own website has a Google page ranking of 0/10 (in other words, blacklisted)? LOL.

As a bonus, check out the fake company names they have on their testimonials page like “Credit Mends Inc.” and “Web Fund Raising.”

If they bug me again I am going straight to the president, Armando Garcia (armando@eresultsinc.com). I will tell him something about search engine optimization. ;-)

Update 2 Feb 06: Wow. These guys have balls. They called me again, and told me to visit www.eresultsinc.com/now/ (since removed) to see some of their canned reports. They asked me to go to Google and check out the placement of their clients sites. So I said, “okay, you go to Google. Type in ‘eresultsinc’ and look at the 9th and 10th results. Yeah. That’s right. That’s me telling you how much your company sucks. He said, “okay, you have a nice day. Bye.

Owned.

Pizza ‘N’ Pasta, Eagan, MN

Out with Bill and Chuck for some quick pizza at Pizza ‘N’ Pasta in Eagan after finding a ton of geocaches.

For inside seating they had two tables with three chairs each. They don’t have cups, so we couldn’t get a 2 litre of Dr. Pepper. We got 20fl oz bottles instead. After I ordered the pizza he asked if it was okay if we had to wait 6 minutes. Heh. A whole 6 minutes for them to make a pizza. No problem!

They delivered the pizza in a pizza box, even though we were eating inside. Fun and surprisingly good pizza.

Geocaching in the Suburbs

Out with Bill and Chuck this morning in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. Found 13 so far. We are the original Geostuds.

Piano Evening

In Stillwater with Tim and Theresa going through some pieces they may want in their wedding. Shared a lot of pieces including stuff by Edward MacDowell and Bach to Gonzales and the White Stripes. They have a lot to figure out yet. An unnamed cat continued to distract everyone. Meow.

The Old Sawmill Grill & Bar, Stillwater, MN

Out with Tim and Theresa. I am the pianist for their wedding coming up in January so they took me out for dinner. This used to be Timberlodge Steak House in Stillwater and as of September 2005 it’s the Old Sawmill Grill & Bar. It tries very hard to be very “Northwoodish” but is so fake that I might as well be at a log cabin in Vegas. On the back of some of the tshirts here it says “Where the THRILL is in the GRILL.” Heh. The thrill is waiting to be seen.

Unlike a lot of places in Stillwater, this place is devoid of any authentic personality or charm. The dead fox and goose near the antique chemical sprayer rested next to our table.

Ordered one of the few quality beers they had on tap and then found some food I wanted. Humorously, the fish and chips doesn’t come with the chips. The fries are a seperate side item. No problem. The chips were the best part anyway.

Tim’s beer had a strange thing floating on top that he got out with his knife. Fun.

The “tablecloth” on the tables is a large square sheet of paper put at a 45 degree angle so the corners come down quite a bit on the sides. Last time Theresa visited she got a papercut. Tim drew a “Nelsor” on ours.

Overall, it was a fun time and it wansn’t a bad experience. Great company, and thanks to Tim for picking up the tab. I am stuffed.

Covered in Leaves

Got roommates Matt and Allen to help rake the yard. 20 bags. They thought it was funny to trap my car in. We are all sore because we are wimps.

Lake Street Garage, Minneapolis, MN

Out with Matt for a bite and a pint.
