Just wanted to call your attention to the Sat. 10/25 2 p.m. panel at this conference:

The panel is about how Obama's campaign has used new media. My wife is one of the organizers of the conference.

Thanks for the shout-out and the great compilation of resources. Nicole shared it with our leadership group, it's a really great place for folks just starting out to go for guidance and some examples and not feel overwhelmed. Keep up the good work!

Great post, Aaron.

I especially like the press-release-to-water-cooler analogy.

A great resource for explaining Web 2.0 sites is Lee Lefever's Common Craft show YouTube channel, where he does a series of "In Plain English" videos that explain how these sites work. The most recent, for example, is Social Media in Plain English.

They are informative and entertaining. I use them all the time to help people understand Web 2.0.

You can watch them here: http://www.youtube.com/user/leelefever

Again, great post!

Hey, Aaron.

You're great. Thanks for this succinct recap...and for being a charming and savvy 2.0 master. We love having you train with MCN, and I always learn from you, no matter how basic.

Thanks for the recap, Aaron. I attended an eerily similar 2.0/blog info session held by the MCN on Friday, but it's good to have your perspective.

Excellent post! This really gets to the heart of how the web is evolving to be a two-way communications medium. I am also forwarding this to co-workers at the nonprofit I work for, making a point to especially take note of the Public Conversing and Listening and Responding section.

Great entry, Aaron. I'm just kicking myself for not being able to be there. I work for a non-profit that is slowly trying to drag itself into the 21st century, so it's been sort of tough to express the importance of social networking. I'm going to forward them this entry in hopes it starts a discussion.

Hey Aaron,

Maybe I could get the US Courts to fly you out to DC to give us the same lecture. Would you be interested? Could you make it a day-long course aimed at content managers and developers?

Thanks for this. I've been trying to get my wife to start up a Facebook account for her organization, but we haven't quite figured out what the goal should be. Hopefully this will help a little to get the gears rolling again.
