Spent some time in Des Moines, Iowa for my cousin’s wedding. Had a bit of time to do some exploring and visited The Continental and The Locust Tap in Des Moines’ East Village neighborhood. Pleasantly cool area of town. If I was forced to live here that’s where you’d find me.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites Des Moines which had great breakfast and an “Evening Manager’s Reception” from 5:30-7:30pm which was a fully open bar to anyone showing a room key.
Room keys were also available for free in the lobby at the self-check-in kiosks. Parking was also free once word spread fast that the code to get into the lot was 1-5-0-0.
Overall a great time. Congrats to Bridget and Travis Monroe!

When we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii, we stayed at an Embassy Suites and they had a free bar special from 4:00 until 6:00 daily. I was there from 3:59 until whenever they would kick us out.
Afterward we would watch the sunset and then go to dinner. It was a nice touch.
