The Strip Club

UPDATE: It opened 15 Jan 2008. Click here.

About a month ago Taylor posted the latest on the new Town Talk gig in Dayton’s Bluff called “The Strip Club.” Aaron Johnson of the Town Talk Diner tells me tonight that now they’re looking to “open the second week of October.” Ang of Overheard in Minneapolis (who lives very, very humorously close to this new place by the way) found on the Dayton’s Bluff website a little image that indicates they’ll be in the “Shock Building.”

So who’s going to go to a frickin’ steakhouse in the so-called Shock Building in Dayton’s Bluff aka the wrong side of Saint Paul called The Strip Club? ;-) I’m willing to bet the Town Talk boys are on to something.

Heh. I joke. This post was a carryover from my old Minneapolis-centric link blog. I actually dig that neighborhood (and yours).

Aaron Johnson of the Town Talk Diner actually described the area around the Strip Club as being similar to Longfellow. Out with the old, in with the new.

Who’s “Dan”? Sent a nurse from work & her SO to Strip Club, they met “Dan”, I should meet Dan!!! So, Tim, how can I thank you for so graciously accomodating my friend???? You are above & beyond!!! May I tell you, last Friday, I was standing out in front of the Strip Club and a van with an older gentleman stopped in the adjacent parallel street and yelled over to, “how is that place? We live in the neighborhood and were wondering how the food was.” Well did I go off on him (so-to-speak), I yelled back, “Stupendous, fantastic, incomparable”, etc. So at least I brought you in some new customers! Boy do I talk you guys up, oops just a sec, I think New York just made a good play (Super Bowls on I’m rooting for Giants). BRB. So, many things to tell you! First, when I initially encountered the Strip Club, I brought my nurse co-worker & her fiance Ben who is chef at Chambers and of course my fancy friend Kathy, nurse at HCMC burn unit who frequents Town Talk with me. We waited two wonderful, comfortable, comeraderie laden hours for a table & met many friends in the duration. (I was a tad tipsy and was gushing to all comers how ‘hot’ Tim was!!! Shame on me! But we had the time of our lives & hopefully inspired others to return, as we eminated the same welcome & hominess of Town Talk. And that night we were privileged to have Bill as our server, KEEP HIM!!!! and Rachel, so sweet. And J.D. even introduced himself, I felt so special. I live to peel J.D.’s carrots!!! :) So we left in heavenly bliss. We had the swedish meatballs that Kathy said were to die for, the walleye fritters with tarragon aioli, the steak, the duck, etc. All perfect. So then the following week, last Friday I returned with my brother, the big business man & his wife, we were again blessed with Bill’s presence. He recites every detail of the menu like a seasoned pro! We had the walleye, the beet soup, the Caesar, the escargot (the bread served with it was so good), the salmon, and the rib eyes with bleu cheese, we were full but when Bill described the trifle, etc we had desserts! Another awesomely perfect evening. So, I’m going back to the TV to hope the Giants win. I’ll talk to you later. Shawn at the Town Talk lent me 2 books on prep, I volunteered to make vegies & dip for 200 at the VA for New Employee luncheon. I’m so way proud of you guys & I will continue to e-mail food-tv & Tony Bourdain (whom I met) about both restaurants. Thank you for all your kindnesses – I could have worse vices than to be a restaurant of yours groupie. I’m going to e-mail that new food critic in the City Pages about you tonight. Keep up the good work, oh by the way, my brother said he was going to recommend his book club to meet at your St. Paul place . . .Hope Jeremiah is sleeping through the night. Love, Sarah

My husband and I tried the Strip Club tonite for what we thought would be dinner. We arrived at 8:35. It looked as though the bar was the host “to be seated” spot. We were asked to have a seat at a nearby 4 top. We honestly waited 10 minutes while 3 waiters passed our table multiple times without making eye contact or acknowledging our presence. My husband went to the bar to at least get drinks and after waiting 3 minutes with no one behind the bar. We decided they didn’t particularly care so we left. VERY disappointing. If they were too busy to serve us, we wish they would have said as much and we would have tried another night. Now, I doubt that we will.
