All of the usual suspects on this flight. Dr. Chester L. Karrass on the power of negotiation, funny plane safety illustrations, guy with a laptop going through a shitty powerpoint presentation, a guy watching a DVD, a woman sleeping… My iPod listening to the new Pink Martini. I can’t get myself past the tracks Kikuchiyo to Mohshimasu and Autrefois. Another woman has a SKII on this flight, although I have no reason to talk to her. She seemed to be constantly IMing before the flight while her male counterpart sat next to her, bored. Isn’t that how it always is? Hiptop users have more fun.
I pulled out my eTrex Legend C for awhile and matched up the roads on the map with those on the ground after I lost track around Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Such a beautiful day out in Minneapolis: Saw the town where I grew up, my mother’s house and a bunch of other places and lakes I know well from the sky, a nice flying tour over the northern and eastern suburbs thanks to my flight path and my port-side window seat.
My girlfriend, Lauren, is flying United instead. Hopefully she got off the ground and got to her connection in Chicago. I don’t want to be waiting for her in Pittsburgh all night.
Another scary thing: as her flight won’t arrive now for awhile after I get there, I may end up meeting Lauren’s parents for the first time, and spending a couple hours with them before she can even introduce me.
